Motorola has confirmed a
list of its smartphones which will be receiving the Android Oreo
update. The Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z
Play Droid, Moto Z2 Play, Moto Z2 Force Edition, Moto X4, Moto G5, Moto
G5 Plus, Moto G5S, and Moto G5S Plus are all in line for receiving the Android Oreo update in the near future.
Even though the list confirms many of the high end and some budget segment smartphones, the Moto G4
and Moto G4 Plus, which were released just about a year ago have missed
the cut. Motorola has not confirmed a roll out time frame for the Oreo
update yet, but in its blog post the company said, "We're happy to
confirm Android 8.0 Oreo will be joining our fleet of Motorola smartphones, starting this fall."
Recently, Sony, HTC, Nokia and
some more smartphone manufacturers confirmed which of their devices
will be receiving the latest installment of Android. Motorola launched
its Moto G5 S and Moto G5S Plus smartphones a month ago. Both the phones are an upgrade to the G5 and G5 plus which were launched in April this year.
The Moto G5S
is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC and features an Adreno 505
GPU. It sports a 5.2-inches 1080p display equipped with Gorilla Glass 3.
The Moto G5S features a 16MP main camera, with f/2.0 aperture lens and
PDAF support. It gets a 5MP front facing camera. The smartphone offers
3GB RAM coupled with 32GB of storage and is backed by a 3000mAh battery.
Except the 2.0GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC powering the Moto G5S Plus,
both the smartphones feature same specs. The G5S Plus is available in
two variants of 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and a 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB
internal storage. The smartphone features a 13MP dual camera setup and a
8MP front facing camera. Both the cameras sport a f/2.0 aperture lens.
The Moto G5S and the G5S Plus are currently running on Android 7 Nougat, but as mentioned above, will soon receive the Oreo update.
